Summer Safety Tips for Pets in Montana

Summer is one of the best times of year to get outside with our pets. Whether you're hiking local trails, spending time at the lake, enjoying backyard barbecues, or taking weekend road trips, our pets are often right alongside us for the adventure.

While summer brings plenty of opportunities for fun, it also comes with a few seasonal hazards that pet owners should keep in mind.

It's Heating Up!

One of the most common summer concerns is overheating. Dogs and cats don't cool themselves the same way humans do, and even temperatures that feel comfortable to us can become dangerous for pets.

When spending time outdoors:

• Make sure shade is available

• Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day
