Sydney
Receptionist and Veterinary Technician
Sydney is originally from Spokane, Washington, and moved to Butte in August 2025. She began working in veterinary medicine shortly after graduating college, spending the summer at Spokane Cat Clinic before joining Butte Veterinary Center in September 2025.

Her love for veterinary medicine started early, helping at her aunt’s veterinary clinic in Republic, Washington. During college, she volunteered at the Lewis and Clark Humane Society in Helena, beginning with dog day trips and later completing an internship where she assisted with community outreach, animal care, and the veterinary team. She also spent time volunteering through campus ministry and Chi Alpha at Carroll College, leading small groups and supporting fellow students.

Sydney’s professional goal is simple but meaningful: to help people and their pets — especially cats. She proudly considers herself a bit of a “cat lady” (though she promises she loves her dog patients, too). What she loves most about veterinary medicine is making a cat’s visit just a little more comfortable. Whether it’s offering a warm blanket, a quiet cuddle, or carrying around one of the clinic’s resident “cuddle bugs,” she believes even small moments of comfort make a big difference.

Outside of work, Sydney enjoys running, paddle boarding, fishing, hiking, watching movies, and spending time with her husband, friends, and family. While she doesn’t currently have pets living with her in Butte, she still proudly claims her family pets in Spokane: three cats and two Siberian huskies. Toby, a confident and affectionate suspected Korat/domestic shorthair mix, was once harness-trained. Smokey and Alex, tabby-pointed Siamese cats, are expert snugglers (Smokey being famously content to be carried like a “potato”). Nala and Atlas, their energetic huskies, have kept the family well-practiced in fence reinforcement and make excellent running partners. She also enjoys stealing her in-laws’ Vizsla, River, for a good run whenever she gets the chance.

Growing up, Sydney’s cats were her closest companions. From adopting her first cat, Rose, at just two years old, she learned lessons in responsibility, compassion, forgiveness, and loyalty. That lifelong bond continues to shape the way she cares for animals today — believing that while we care for them, they often teach us just as much in return.
